Global Webinar:

Social protection measures for a shock-prone world: Lessons from humanitarian cash transfers and COVID-19 responses

Monday, June 13 2022 – 9.30 AM (New York time) / 3.30 PM (South Africa time)

COVID-19 has brought to the forefront the importance of social protection and its role in protecting vulnerable populations. As the world grapples with the aftermath of COVID-19 and other shocks, including climate change, and political instability, to name a few, governments and policymakers need to focus on long-term response and the role social protection plays in building back better. This webinar will explore the role of social protection responses in building a sustainable, resilient and inclusive world in an increasingly shock-prone context. The webinar will draw lessons and experiences from UNICEF-commissioned evaluation of Cash Transfers in Emergency Settings and Rapid Review of COVID-19 Responses to highlight how various social protection instruments, including cash transfers, have helped in offsetting the impact of COVID-19 and how they can be further strengthened to establish comprehensive social protection systems.

  • Nard Huijbregts, Lead Social policy Advisor, EPRI

Executive Course

Designing and Implementing Adapative Social Protection Systems

June 13-17, 2022
Cape Town, South Africa

In the context of the aftermath of the global pandemic, we are at a crucial tipping point to advance the global social protection agenda. Now is the time to draw together and build our collective skills and community. With that in mind, EPRI is excited to announce the new offering of our flagship course “Designing and Implementing Adaptive Social Protection Sytems” as an executive programme in Cape Town, from June 12-18, 2022.

This course aims at equipping social policy advisors and leaders within governments, development partners, civil society and non-profit organisations with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and deliver shock-responsive social protection systems.

Why enrol now?

  • Core skills and knowledge: The executive course will address the core concepts of transformative social protection, the social and economic arguments for an inclusive national strategy, draw upon global best practices and provide an essential set of analytical tools required to assess, design, implement, monitor, and evaluate social protection programmes.
  • Interactive learning: The learning approach adopted by the course will support peer learning and promote a meaningful and continuing dialogue which can reinforce political will and increase the likelihood of successful implementation of implementing social protection programmes related to shock-responsive social protection, food security and nutrition, gender-sensitive social protection and livelihood.
  • Strengthened global social protection community: During the course, the participants will be engaging with more than 100 social protection practitioners and will gain skills to translate theory from practice to support the strengthening of national social protection systems.

Offer of Group Discount

We are keen to continue offering group discounts to our valuable partners, and we would be happy to extend the a generous discount if there are staff members who would like to enrol for the course.  EPRI would be happy to offer a 20% group discount on the tuition component of the fees for groups of 5 or more (or alternatively, 1 free tuition for 4 paid tuitions), or 15% for groups of four (without a fifth participant).
