Global Webinar: Digital Solutions for Social Protection Systems
Wednesday,5 May 2021 at 10:30 AM GMT+2.
Over the past two decades, the growth of digital technology has increased the pace of development, especially with governments investing in these technologies and exploring ways to integrate them in social protection programmes. The rising demand for more accurate and efficient social protection systems have driven digital technology integration in social protection. Digital technology improves data management, thereby addressing inclusion and exclusion errors, enhancing transparency, and building trust among various actors.
The pandemic surfaced the widening digital gap and the adverse implications of the same. Poor infrastructure, lack of awareness of new technology by prospective beneficiaries, and delays in developing technical standards have slowed down the digitisation of social protection programmes. This webinar will discuss the need for digital solutions for social protection and touches on the importance of innovation in the social protection system. It will also cover the topics of digital payment systems, GIS in the mapping of social protection programmes and why these are important for the success of social protection interventions.
